Les Équinoxes
Visual Identity and communication for Les Equinoxes festival.
Les Equinoxes is a feminist, durable and inclusive festival made in Brussels. It took place on the 8th of april 2023 at La Tricoterie, from 12h to 02h, with a dense and diversified programme of concerts, DJ sets, workshops and a non-profit village.
Our focus-points when thinking of this identity have been visual accessibility, lisibility, and easy to read and understand language. We've paid special attention when selecting the fonts and colour palette to make sure the contrasts of letters against backgrounds would always be optimized. Lexend fonts are intended to reduce visual stress and so improve reading performance. Initially they were designed with dyslexia and struggling readers in mind, but Bonnie Shaver-Troup, creator of the Lexend project, soon found out that these fonts are also great for everyone else.
We also came up with straight forward visual codes in terms of construction and logic, not only for our public to naviguate at ease, but for the festival's team to use effectively for their posts on social media.
The printed part of the campaign was well thought of as well : a few risoprinted cards and screenprinted posters that we kept small scale so they could become artefacts to recover and redistribute after the festival.
